2003 - does anybody really know? - it's up to me it's up to me to show her, that life is not so bad it's up to me to expose, the truth plain to see the rest is up to her, that is reality it's up to me to love her, for that is what I do it's up to me to show her, how love feels when it's true it's up to me to nurture, the dreams she tries to hide it's up to her to find that, her answers are inside I am just an example, of an honest man to be the best I can be, that is my only plan and that means show I'm caring, as much as I can do it's up to her to find out, that her heart can be true and there is no point in feeling sorry for myself or feeling resentment or any sort of loss there's no point in feeling lonely or waiting on my shelf all that negative energy just compounds the cost of the love I never had that I thought I lost so I forgive her as i forgive myself not living up to expectations is no crime and we'll never get where we want to be if we hide up on a shelf there's a lot of truth left in this here old rhyme and it's time to leave the blues behind to find life can be sublime it's up to me to love her, for that is who I am it's up to me to show her, that I can understand it's up to me to help her, in any way I can it's up to me to be me, I am an honest man it's up to me, this is my role it's up to me, this is my goal it's up to me, this is my way it's up to me, to do what I say these are my expectations for myself, you see and I'm no good for anyone else if I'm not living up to me so what I've got to do is remember all that I can be and then show her how sweet love is when love is truly free
